Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well recognized by her highly commendable performances in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Her movie Piano was awarded an Oscar. Early on, the accomplished actress began playing on stage for a number of Broadway or Off-Broadway shows. Enthusiastic about acting from the time she was in school, she portrayed Helen Keller in a play during the 5th grade. She became deaf in one ear following a bout of Mumps, but she didn't permit this to deter the determination of her to become an actress. She studied drama at college after which she moved from Pittsburgh and moved to New York City to follow her dream. Through a random encounter, she got trapped in an elevator along with the playwright Beth Henley and the two worked together on the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart that became Hunter's debut. After moving from Los Angeles she tried to find film roles, and was able to secure the role of a co-star on Swing Shift. Her career spans more than 30 years, and she's been featured in numerous TV shows, films and series. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
